    Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, and garlic powder in a small bowl. Set the special sauce aside.

    Divide ground beef into 8 equal portions and roll into loose balls.

    Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over very high heat. Place a ball on the hot surface and immediately smash it flat and thin with a heavy spatula. Season generously with salt and pepper.

    Cook for about 2 minutes until super crispy on the edges, then flip. Immediately place a slice of cheese on top and cook for another minute until melted.

    Toast the buns lightly. Spread special sauce on both halves. Build sliders with the cheeseburger patty, lettuce, tomato, and pickles.
